breeding for soundness, health & Versatility

The average lifespan of the Dobermann in Europe is only 7 years. I try to make a difference by focusing on genetic diversity, avoiding popular sires, and using uncommon bloodlines with above average health.

longevity = success

How do you test for genetic diversity?

I test my dogs via VGL, Embark and Wisdom panel.

what health testing do you do?

Dobermann: hips, eyes, DNA (vWD etc.), heart (echo + 24hr Holter ECG), fertility exams and full geriatric blood panel incl. thyroid.

Basenji: hips, eyes, DNA (Fanconi etc.), fertility exams and full geriatric blood panel incl. thyroid.

The above listed testing is the absolute minimum. I may do additional testing at my discretion.

do you have a health guarantee?

I offer a 7 year limited genetic health guarantee (a free replacement from the next litter).

how do you evaluate temperament and structure?

All of my dogs frequently travel internationally via public transport, regularly attend training seminars in obedience and/or bitework (mondio ring), and participate in conformation shows. Show evaluations can be read on each dog’s page.

how do I know your bloodlines are healthy?

I transparently publish all health issues or causes of death that I am aware of on each litter’s page, and update various pedigree databases regularly.

At this time, I can say that none of my dogs suffer from food sensitivities, auto-immune issues, or separation anxiety (common problems in the breed).

Additionally, my Dobermanns are listed with the DPCA Longevity Program.
